A Wildberries employee spoke about the strict supervision and harsh working conditions of North Korean workers
A Wildberries warehouse employee in Elektrostal spoke about the working conditions of North Korean women, who were brought to this facility in large numbers.
“We initially thought they were North Korean prisoners brought in to work.
These women are always led in formation and under the supervision of some men from their own country.
They also all live together and are not allowed to go outside. They are not allowed to communicate. Later, we found out that they are not criminals… I know that they are paid only 3,500 rubles per shift, whereas the normal pay now is 7,000–10,000 rubles. Wildberries is extremely happy with this ‘cost saving’ and even threatens to increase the number of North Korean workers.”
It is worth noting that in North Korea there is a practice where up to 90% of the earnings of citizens sent to work abroad is taken by the state into “loyalty funds.” In other words, sending workers to Russia also serves to replenish North Korea’s state budget.
Recall that in February and spring 2025, it became known that North Korean women began to be brought to work at Wildberries warehouses in the Moscow region and Ryazan region.
